What Happens During a Tune-Up

If you haven’t had an AC tune-up in the past year, now is a great time to schedule one. You can make sure that your AC is in great condition for the coming summer. But what should you expect during an AC tune-up appointment?

The short answer is, our team checks everything from top to bottom, inside and out. We get detailed with everything when it comes to AC maintenance in Clackamas, OR. You can keep reading to learn more about exactly what we do so you know what to expect at your next AC tune-up.

Before doing anything else, we take a quick look at your indoor and outdoor units as a whole. If there is anything that jumps out at us as a red flag, we take a closer look.

Thermostat

Then, we start with your thermostat. After all, your thermostat has a lot to do with how well your air conditioner operates. If your thermostat is miscalibrated, dirty on the inside or needs new batteries, we will take care of all of those problems. Once we know your thermostat is in good working order, we can move onto looking at your AC in greater detail.

Electrical Connections

Next, we look at all of the electrical connections in your air conditioner to make sure that you don’t have any loose wires potentially causing any problems. Aside from posing fire hazards, loose wires can also affect how well your air conditioner can cool. It may be that one or more components within your air conditioner cannot work properly, adding strain to other areas of your AC.

Refrigerant Charge

We also take a look at your refrigerant lines and check for holes. Your air conditioner is designed to maintain a refrigerant charge across its entire lifespan. As long as there are no problems, you never have to refill or recharge your refrigerant. However, if you have a leak that is causing your air conditioner to lose refrigerant, we need to repair the leak and recharge the refrigerant levels. Otherwise, your AC will not produce enough cold air to keep your home cool this summer.

Belts, Fans, Motor

We use the same attention to detail across all of the remaining parts inside of your air conditioner. We tighten loose screws and check all of the belts to make sure that they are in good working order. It’s completely normal for belts to stretch out and wear down as time passes. Ideally, you want to replace those belts before they break and cause more problems.

We will also look at gears and other components inside your motor to make sure they are well lubricated and can work together with ease. All of these steps help your AC to work more efficiently so you can have peace of mind for the rest of the year until your next AC tune-up.

Please call Sydni, our Office Extraordinaire, to schedule your next appointment! The team at Clean Air Act will take care of you from there!
